Driveways take more abuse than any other surface on your property — constant UV exposure, heavy rain, and daily vehicle traffic. A proper restoration isn’t a cosmetic coat; it’s a performance system. The durability of the finish is determined long before sealer is applied. Our process is built around disciplined preparation to create a resilient, long-lasting barrier that protects structural integrity and delivers a clean, uniform appearance that holds up.

What Driveway Sealing Does

Restores color, helps lock joint sand in place, and adds a protective barrier against stains and weather. You get cleaner edges, fewer weeds, and a driveway that looks finished.

  • Color enhancement + uniform finish
  • Joint sand stabilization (less washout)
  • Helps resist oil, rust, and dirt staining
  • Reduced weed growth in joints

Our Professional 6 Step Process

Understanding the process is what delivers consistent results. Proper prep, joint work, moisture control, and a controlled application prevent blotchy finishes and premature failure.

  1. Inspection: surface, drainage, problem areas
  2. Clean: correct chemistry + controlled rinse
  3. Re-sand: reset and compact joints (polymeric only when appropriate)
  4. Dry & verify: moisture checks + weather window control
  5. Seal: even coats, controlled application, clean edges
  6. Final walkthrough: cure times, care notes, and maintenance guidance

Driveway Sealing Questions

How long before I can park on my driveway after sealing?

With Trident Hurricane CAT 5, the surface is typically dry to the touch within about 1–2 hours under ideal conditions (approximately 65–85°F, low humidity, and good airflow). Light foot traffic is often possible in 2–4 hours.

For normal use, we recommend waiting a full 24 hours before regular foot traffic, and 48–72 hours before parking vehicles. This allows the sealer to properly cure and helps prevent tire marks, pickup, or surface damage — especially in humid, shaded, or overcast conditions.

Will sealing help prevent tire marks, oil spots, and rust stains?

Sealing helps reduce absorption and makes cleanup easier for common driveway staining, including tire residue, oil drips, rust (fertilizer or metal), and organic grime.

No sealer makes pavers stain-proof, but sealing buys you time — spills don’t penetrate as quickly, and routine maintenance becomes much easier.

Do you re-sand the joints on driveways (and do you use polymeric sand)?

Yes. Driveways lose joint sand faster than patios due to vehicle traffic, vibration, and heavy Florida rainfall. We remove failing joint material and re-sand using Trident ASTM C144 kiln-dried joint sand for proper compaction, drainage, and long-term stability.

In Florida’s humid, rain-heavy climate, we generally do not recommend polymeric sand for most driveways. Polymeric sand can trap moisture and often fails prematurely, leading to mold, mildew, haze, or joint breakdown. When paired with a Trident joint-stabilizing sealer, traditional joint sand provides better drainage, cleaner joints, and more reliable long-term performance.

Can you clean and seal my driveway the same day?

Often, yes — especially in spring and summer when heat and airflow allow proper dry-down. However, if pavers are holding moisture, the driveway is shaded, or rain is too close, we extend dry time or split the job.

Does driveway sealing make pavers slippery?

Driveways are typically not a traction issue, but application matters. Slippery results usually come from over-application or the wrong finish.

We apply controlled, even coats and select the proper system for your surface so the driveway looks clean, uniform, and performs without feeling slick.

What if my driveway has sinking pavers, low spots, or drainage issues?

We inspect for rocking, sinking, and drainage problems before sealing. Sealing protects the surface and helps stabilize joints — it does not correct base or structural issues.

If repairs are needed, we’ll explain the right fix first so you don’t pay to seal a surface that isn’t stable.
